I was delighted to welcome Victoria Prentis, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Farming, Fisheries and Food, to Grimsby recently. I accompanied Victoria on visits to Flatfish and Young’s Seafood, where we saw Grimsby’s fish processing in action.
Grimsby’s standing as a nerve centre for the UK’s fishing industry is well known and it’s always a pleasure to welcome Government ministers to the area to showcase what we’re achieving.
Fishing continues to provide huge investment and employment opportunities for Grimsby, which we discussed with Victoria. She says that she’s confident that Grimsby will embrace the changing economic landscape as we continue to adjust to a post-Brexit world, as well as continuing to be a highlight of the country’s seafood sector.
