It was a great pleasure of mine to welcome the UK’s Icelandic Ambassador Sturla Sigurjónsson to Grimsby recently. Grimsby enjoys strong trade partnerships with Iceland when it comes to fish, with Grimsby being the largest importer of Icelandic fish in the UK.
We discussed the importance of maintaining our strong links along with new and emerging opportunities in the sector as Grimsby continues to adjust to the post-Brexit landscape.
We also discussed Grimsby’s continuing success in the renewables sector, particularly with wind energy and how we can collaborate with Iceland in furthering our efforts in green energy.
It’s important that we maintain these positive relationships with our international colleagues and I’m delighted that I was able to speak to Sturla and showcase Grimsby to the international stage.
