Today is Great Grimsby Charter Day. On this day, we celebrate the town’s royal charter, signed on 11th March 1201. At the time, Grimsby was one of only seven towns to be awarded such privileges, such as setting local taxes.
I joined the Mayor of North East Lincolnshire and the Council Leader in attending the flag raising ceremony, and then popped in to the Town Hall to look at the free local history exhibition that had been put on.
Today is a lovely reminder of the great history and heritage we have as a town!
