I went to meet the Army Reservists of the 4 (Lincolnshire) Company, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Anglian Regiment at the Territorial Army Centre in Westward Ho. Reservists are people who serve in the army as well as working regular jobs for a living. It was a useful visit to learn more about the structure of the army and to meet the inspirational people who serve as army reservists.
It was particularly good to learn about their motivations for wanting to serve their country and how it has a positive effect on their lives. It was also interesting to learn of the difficulties sometimes faced in finding people to become reservists. I also learned about how helpful and positive employers are in supporting their employees who are reservists.
I was really welcomed on my visit and was lucky enough to inspect the troops and to chat with them as well. It was great to see such positive things going on there and I look forward to helping the regiment again soon.
