I am a member of PRASEG (the Parliamentary Renewable and Sustainable Energy Group), which is an all-parliamentary group where people come together to discuss what we need to do to increase sustainable energy generation. These people include business, communities, parliamentarians and other individuals. I was honoured to speak at their event, which was attended by Kwasi Kwarteng, the former Minister for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and who now serves as the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
Renewable energy is absolutely key to Grimsby in the constituency. We are a world leader in the maintenance and operations of offshore wind farms. My interest is to make sure that Grimsby remains at the forefront of the renewable energy industry. Green jobs are a huge growth area for the town and it’s important that I make sure that Grimsby is represented properly. Not only is renewable and sustainable energy important for the world and slowing down climate change, but it’s very important for jobs, economies, skills and growth in Great Grimsby.
At the PRASEG event, I told people about the importance and significance of Grimsby as a renewable hub, that we are open and welcoming to more clean growth and green jobs in our area. These kinds of events are useful to meet people who may go on lobby you, talk to you about your areas of interest and how you can improve your understanding of them and to help get Grimsby’s name out there.
