I have recently written to over 200 companies and businesses based in the Pyewipe area as below. During the summer Parliamentary recess I hope to meet, or talk to as many of them as possible, along with businesses right across Grimsby. We know that the global economy is struggling but I don't want to see a single business fail here.
As the Member of Parliament for Grimsby I know that the fortunes of the town are very much linked with the success of local businesses. I aim to support business in any way I can.
I am making contact with you as we now emerge from lockdown. I am particularly interested in how you and your business have coped with the lockdown period, the impact on trading and how you are now adapting to operating within the Covid secure guidelines.
I have recently been appointed as a Further Education ambassador for the Department for Education. This covers skills, training and apprentices. So, equally I would be interested to understand your approach to these areas. I believe that providing apprenticeships will be critical to supporting young people into the world of work.
You may also have additional training needs as the UK moves towards the end of the transition from the EU and then into next year as we become an independent sovereign state once again.
I will be happy to meet with you either in person (in a socially distanced way) or virtually, whichever suits you.
Please do get in touch if there is anything you would like to discuss.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully
Lia Nici MP for Great Grimsby
