I recently visited the Solenis site on Moody Lane in Grimsby, they provide specialty chemicals services to water intensive industries. I was given a tour by their new plant manager Chris Johnson, a local man who was born and raised just down the road in Cleethorpes.
Chris showed me round the site which employs just over 40 people, including 3 apprentices. Some of their employees have sought their training via the CATCH training facility in Stallingborough, which is great proof of the opportunities available to local people who choose to seek a career in industry. A discussion took place on how Solenis is currently establishing links with local further and higher education providers here in Grimsby with the hope of inspiring young people to explore engineering as a career option.
I would like to thank Chris and the Solenis team for their time to show me the site. It was a very informative visit, and I look forward to working with Chris in the future to continue inspiring local people to see the opportunities available in engineering and industry here in Great Grimsby.
