It was lovely to visit Chestnuts Care Centre on Friday after some residents and their family members wrote in inviting me to visit.
Chestnuts provide specialist dementia care, and the team there is second to none. Everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming.
I had afternoon tea with Doreen, who wrote to me previously, and spoke with her about the fact that she used to teach in a girls grammar school and went to University in the 1940’s - an impressive feat for a woman at that time! Doreen also used to teach my father, Aldo, in night classes when he was learning English after moving here from Italy.
I also met Ann and her husband David, who wrote in to tell me how fantastic the team are.
I’d like to express a big thankyou to Chestnuts for what they do for our community. I have no doubt that I’ll be visiting again soon.
