This week, I’ve been appointed to sit on the Holocaust Memorial Bill Select Committee, which is a cross-party group set up to consider the foundation of a memorial to those murdered during the Holocaust. The Bill we are considering will lead to the construction of both a memorial and a learning centre, which will be located near Parliament at Victoria Tower Gardens.
With Holocaust Memorial Day coming up on the 27th of January, I am glad to be part of the group of MPs considering the foundation of this memorial, which will provide for a central, national space to commemorate and honour Jewish and other victims of Nazi persecution during the Second World War.
The Committee will sit again on Tuesday 23rd of January from 2pm, and you can watch proceedings on the day here: https://committees.parliament.uk/.../formal-meeting-oral.../
