Martin Vickers MP and I are delighted to announce that three local organisations catering for young people will receive funding from the Government.
Three local organisations in Grimsby and Cleethorpes have been awarded over £12.1m from the Government’s Youth Investment Fund.
Horizon Youth Zone will receive £7.9 million for their project to transform West Haven Maltings, which hopefully will begin its building programme next month. Their plan includes a variety of different activities for children to do at an extremely low cost and will ensure that a much-loved historic building in our town centre is brought back into use.
The Fusion Centre has been awarded £1.4 million, which will help them to continue their fantastic work with Grimsby’s youth in reducing anti-social behaviour. Fusion’s work to inspire young people is a real asset to the local community.
Fusion has been working locally for five years now and has been working with young and older people alike. To date, Wayne Bloy and his team have worked with over 1,500 people locally.
The OnSide Youth Zone will provide additional low-cost activities for young people up to the age of 25 and it will be good to see the building start in April.
A third local youth organisation, The Trin Centre in Cleethorpes, has also been awarded £2.8 million from the Youth Investment Fund, taking the total funding allocated to North East Lincolnshire to over £12 million.
Martin Vickers, MP for Cleethorpes said, “It’s great to see the Government supporting such an essential community group in the constituency. Andy Cook and the team at Trin do amazing work to support young people in Cleethorpes and across the wider community.”
Secretary of State for the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, Lucy Frazer said, “I want every young person to have the opportunity to access the kind of life-changing activities which expand their horizons and allow them to develop vital life skills.
“I'm thrilled to be supporting Onside Horizon Youth Zone, Fusion and The Trin to help young people across Grimsby and Cleethorpes. This funding provides more activities and opportunities for hundreds of young people across North East Lincolnshire."
