Below is an update on some of my activities during the week.
I started the week with a Westminster Hall Debate to ask the Government if they would make it a legal requirement for drivers to stop and report collisions with cats. When a petition was submitted to the Government, they said they had no plans to make it an offence to drive away after hitting a cat. I spoke in the debate after talking with a constituent when I met her when her own pet cat had been hit by a vehicle, and helped her to take him to the Blue Cross for help. I am unsure we can successfully achieve a change in the law, but I will continue to lobby.
I also took part in amending legislation on the Draft State Immunity Act, to ensure that employees working on diplomatic missions or consular posts in the UK are able to make employment claims.
I met with the All Party Parliamentary Group for Coastal Communities to learn about the UK’s new coastal path and Year of the Coast 2023.

In addition to the normal constituency work, I met with constituents and businesses in Heneage Ward to look at fly tipping problems.
