It was good to be able to talk to some of the stallholders at the Top Town Market yesterday and see how they are coping. It was very sad to see the number of stalls that have had to stop trading due to the virus. I am in onging discussion with the market operator and North East Lincolnshire Council to see how the issue of rents is managed at this difficult time – particularly for those stall holders currently unable to trade.
I hope that as many people as possible continue to support our town markets and local shops. I know that it can be convenient to use the big supermarkets and shop on the internet, but buying locally helps to keep our economy growing and life in our main shopping areas.
